Call Me Martha
Last Sunday, in our reading from Luke, a lawyer asked Jesus a question, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” When Jesus turned the question on the Lawyer, he answered from the Law: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” Then, using the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus showed us who our neighbors are, and how to love our neighbor. In the end Jesus told the lawyer, and us, “Go and do likewise.”
This week we continue to read in Luke chapter 10, and we hear about Martha and her sister Mary. Although it may not seem so, this week’s reading is linked to the text from last week. The link is the original question, “What must I do to inherit eternal life,” and the answer to love God, and love our neighbor. Listen now to Luke, chapter 10, verses 38 through 42
